Record your continuing education and see how many points or hours are still missing in your current period. The rules come from the law or the regulator's own rules, each with its source.

Period

Date of establishment or approved start of employment. End date following the KZV Land Brandenburg example (1 July 2019 to 30 June 2024); your KZV prevails, and the period is extended while the licence is suspended.

Please enter the start of the period.

How the tracker applies the rule

  • The tracker counts the 10 self-study points per year of the five-year period (from its start). The sources say "per year" / "for the current year"; please ask your KZV whether it means the calendar year.
  • Note: providers assign at most 8 points per CE day plus extra points (BZÄK/DGZMK point scale) — the points on your certificate of attendance prevail. The tracker counts the points as entered from it.

How the tracker counts

Choose the rule set that applies to you and enter the start of your period. The tracker computes the end from the official rule (for example 1 December to 30 November in Australia, or calendar years for UK dentists); for Germany you can change it, because your KZV's notice decides.

Each entry counts only inside the period. Caps stated in the rules are applied automatically, for example self-study in Germany (10 points per year, 50 in total) and 8 hours per day in Switzerland; in Germany the points on your certificate count as stated. Minimum shares (48 clinical hours in Australia) and the UK two-year windows are checked; the topics the GDC recommends are shown as recommendations only. A country gets a tracker only when every stated rule is computed; all other countries are in the requirements table.

The schedule hint compares your total with an even spread over the period. It is a neutral orientation, not a legal deadline.

Frequently asked questions

How many CE points does a German dentist need?

Dentists in the German statutory health insurance system must prove 125 CE points within five years to their KZV (KZBV rule under § 95d SGB V). Self-study of literature counts at most 10 points per year.

When does the five-year period under § 95d SGB V end?

The period starts with the start of SHI practice (date of establishment or approved start of employment). The KZV Land Brandenburg gives the example 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2024; the tracker therefore suggests the day before the fifth anniversary of the start (28 February for a start on 29 February, § 188 BGB). Your KZV's notice prevails; you can change the end date.

How many CPD hours do UK dentists need?

The General Dental Council requires at least 100 hours of verifiable CPD per five-year cycle for dentists, with at least 10 hours in every two-year period, and an annual CPD statement.

Where is my data stored?
